Romance and Poetry

April is National Poetry Month.

Poetry is a wonderful way to express love.

As I reflect on romantic poems, the one that tops my list is
“How Do I Love Thee?” by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

I delivered this poem as a reading in an oral interpretation class
in college. The romantic in me enjoyed adding plenty of emotion.

What poem do you think qualifies as the most romantic?

  • I admit, I am not much of a poet or a reader of poetry. Lately, I’ve been paying more attention because my hero loves it. But I can’t say I have a favorite. 🙂

  • I have to agree that the poem you featured would top my list of most romantic poems. 🙂 I’m sure you did a wonderful job with your presentation of that poem, Keli!
I actually have a published poem (about CATS, of course!). 😉 But I’d forgotten that April is National Poetry Month, so thank you for this reminder.

  • Ohhhh, swoony! I used Byron’s “She Walks In Beauty” in my MS, I LOVE that poem.

  • Keli, poetry is one of my great loves. My favorites are so wide and varied, I don’t they could be put into a category. Certainly some of them are far from romantic. Yet I love the soft voice of Emily Dickinson and Gwendolyn Brooks. I would put one of theirs at the top of my list 🙂
