Name That Bookstore. . .

Bookstores often have clever names.

I attended a signing recently at an awesome store called Face in a Book.

Not only does the store have a great name, but the staff treated me like royalty.

What bookstore names have caught your attention?

If you were to open a bookstore, what would you name it?

    Love this question!
In Wish You Were Here, my debut novel, I made up a bookstore (based on a real one in Estes Park) and I had fun naming it. The name? Work in Progress, or WIP for short.
A term we writers use often.
Love the name Face in a Book title!

I like this question, too! As a kid I dreamed of having a bookstore with a small lunch counter, where I could serve fun baked goods, soups, and sandwiches. Guess Barnes & Noble beat me to it! Never did figure out a name for it, though ….

  • What a lovely store! I did own a bookstore and we called it Paradise cause it was to me!

  • That’s such a cute bookstore name! I always thought it would be cool to own a bookstore or work at a library or something. Never did think of a name for said bookstore, though. Hmmm…it would have to be something quaint, like The Shop Around the Corner (the bookstore name in You’ve Got Mail).

What a great name for a book store!

I like Beth’s bookstore name in her book…Work In Progress.

  • Go Beth!

I’d have a big logo of a guy in a cape and have him look all imperious and noble. Beside him I’d have in really swanky font…”Word Count”.

We have a couple of used book stores here. One is called The Paperback Book Palace, and the other is The Book Review. 🙂 I love that last one.

If I had a bookstore, I’d probably call it “The Rabbit Hole” because when I browse for books, I lose all track of time or place like Alice falling down the rabbit hole.

Erica, your used bookstores have great names. I like the one you came up with. It’s so easy to get swept up in a story and forget everything around us, isn’t it?

  • That’s so clever! And I love their decor. My creativity has gone to bed for the night, so I can’t think of any fun names, but I’ve had fun reading everyone else’s ideas. 🙂

  • Keli, my fav is a local store situated perfectly for its name. It attracts all the top names of the genre. It’s called MURDER ON THE BEACH … and it’s a great independent bookstore that also hosts indie pub’d writers, special events, workshops and much more 🙂
