LIH Spotlight: Pony Express Special Delivery

This week I’m shining the spotlight on
Pony Express Special Delivery, a September release from
Love Inspired Historical author Rhonda Gibson.

Learn more about the story below, and then scroll
down to enter the giveaway for a print copy.

Conveniently Wed

Pony Express manager Clayton Young arrives for his new assignment at a Wyoming ranch just in time to save Maggie Fillmore’s ailing baby. The lovely young widow is struggling to care for a ranch, her sister and a newborn, and Clayton plans to pursue medicine—not marriage. Yet Maggie’s dire situation spurs him to offer a match of convenience…

Maggie hoped never to rely on any man again, even one as kind as Clayton. But with her late husband’s greedy cousin trying to take away her ranch, she has little choice. And though Maggie worries her union with Clayton might not be enough to save her ranch, she soon sees it could be just what her heart needs.

Sipping in the Summertime

When the temperature hovers in the high nineties for days on end here in the Sierra Foothills where I live, I get mighty thirsty. While I enjoy ice water, my drink of choice is limeade.

I’ve downed numerous glasses of Simply Limeade this summer. It’s refreshing as well as being lip-smacking good.

Question for You

What is your favorite summertime beverage?

  • Mary Preston says:

When the weather is hot I love ice-cold fresh pineapple juice. Diluted with ice & water.

  • Becky Smith says:

In the summer, besides just plain water, I enjoy a glass of iced tea. We have gone more to herbal teas as we have a harder time falling asleep at night if we drink too much caffeine.
I have not read any books by Rhonda Gibson, but they look good!

  • Evangeline says:

I’m a southern gal and my fav drink…summer or winter…is sweet tea! I, also, love fresh lemonade. This is a new author to me, and I would love to win a copy of her book. It sounds delightful. Thanks. 😊

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Evangeline, my mother grew up in Texas and introduced me to sweet tea at an early age. I remember drinking sweet tea that was so sugary you could almost stand a spoon up in it. 🙂

  • Brenda W says:

My favorite summertime drink is Minute Maid lemonade. I buy it sometimes when I am running errands. I also like Birch Beer from the local Mennonite store–it is not beer at all; but tastes like root beer.

  • Jan Hall says:

My favorite summertime drink is cherry limeade. I usually get it at Sonic. Yum

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Jan, it’s fun to see how many different varieties of lemonade and limeade there are these days. I tried a peach limeade and enjoyed it.

  • jane naccarato says:

Since I have cut the sodas to 1 can a day I drink ice tea, various flavors of gatorade propel water and Simply Limeade. When I get tired of the flavored drinks it is ice water or milk.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Jane, kudos on cutting back on the soda. That takes won’t power, as in “I won’t drink one.” I like that you have a variety of go-to summer beverages, which just so happens to include Simply Limeade, my favorite. 🙂

  • Does watermelon count as a beverage? 🤔 I didn’t think so! 😉
My beverage of choice would probably have to be iced tea! This southern born girl loves a good cup of tea, especially peach tea!

  • Chriatina says:

My favorite beverage is iced tea. I got hooked on sweet tea when I went to visit my brother in South Carolina.

    • Christina says:

Spelled my own name wrong…lol. Now I know it’s Monday!

      • Keli Gwyn says:

Christina, my mom was raised in Texas, so I grew up on sweet tea. It’s easy to see why a person could get hooked on it, especially if said person likes sweet drinks as much as I do.

  • Connie Lee says:

I like a refreshing glass of iced tea in the summer.

  • Maryann says:

I love drinking iced tea and strawberry or raspberry lemonade when its really hot in the summer.

  • Susan Roeper says:

    Cherry Limeade from Sonic 😉

  • Jordann says:

Sweet tea! Although, I do drink it all year round! 🙂

  • Used to be cherry Coke Zero, but these days it is water or juice or an occasional lemonade.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Julie, I gave up caffeinated drinks years ago, including caffeinated tea and sodas. Although it wasn’t easy, I’m happy with the change. I sleep much better than I did when I was wired.

  • Lynne M Feuerstein says:

Thanks Keli for this latest giveaway, the cover is so adorable! As for the question; I would say lemonade (pink or regular) is my favorite summer drink!

  • Martha Peace says:

    Ice tea

  • Donna Irvin says:

Unsweetened ice tea, and in the South that’s a sin….

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Donna, I’m surprised you’re willing to admit that you drink unsweetened tea. 🙂 I thought all Southerners added oodles of it to their pitchers of iced tea. My mom, who grew up in Midland, Texas, certainly did back when I was a girl. You haven’t had sweet tea unless you’ve had it prepared by a person from the South. Her tea rivaled syrup.

  • Karen S says:

My favorite drink of choice is iced tea. But I like mine unsweetened.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Karen, as the daughter of a mother who was raised in Texas and taught me how to make sweet tea at an early age, I had to work to get used to drinking my herbal tea without sugar. I persevered and learned to enjoy the taste of the tea without the sweetness.

  • Trixi says:

I’ve never tried Limeade and not sure if I would like it or not. I don’t care for lemonade at all! My drink of choice any time of the year is brewed tea, either cold or hot. I always have my 20oz bottle water filled with cold tea next to me. I also have a refrigerator that has a filtered water dispenser, I love it 🙂

And definitely I have to have my two cups of coffee in the morning!

Thank you for the book giveaway Keli!

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Trixi, if you don’t care for lemonade, I doubt you’d like limeade. It’s even more tart. No worries, though. You’ve got your drink of choice and keep it handy. Way to go!

  • Marilyn R says:

Plenty of ice cold water and sometimes sparkling flavored water along with a Pepsi at times. 64 ounces of water a day is a must.

Thank you for sharing about another LIH. I want to grab Maggie’s baby and love on him with that sweet expression.

  • Keli Gwyn says:

This week’s winner is Evangeline. Congratulations, Evangeline! Look for an email from me.
