LIH Spotlight – Inherited: Unexpected Family

This week I’m shining the spotlight on
Inherited: Unexpected Family, an August release from
Love Inspired Historical author Gabrielle Meyer.

Learn more about the story below, and then scroll
down to enter the giveaway for a print copy.

An Unexpected Partnership

After arriving in Minnesota Territory with her sisters to claim their late father’s hotel, Elizabeth Bell is shocked to learn her inheritance comes with a handsome co-owner. After too long working for a domineering boss, Elizabeth yearns to be in control—of the hotel and her life. But Jude Allen won’t sell his share, and Elizabeth refuses to leave.

Rescuing soiled doves and giving them hotel jobs is Jude’s way of redeeming his past. He’s counting on rough frontier life driving his new business partner away before she learns the scandalous truth and demands he stop his mission. But he may have underestimated Elizabeth…and the power of love to turn a complication into a bright new beginning.

When it comes to jewelry, my collection is fairly small. It consists primarily of earrings, although I do have a few necklaces.

My writing partner, Anne, knows how much I love purple and sent me this lovely set of bracelets for my birthday a few weeks back.

Before receiving Anne’s gift, I didn’t wear bracelets very often, but I’ve been won over. They give an outfit some welcome pizazz.

I added the bracelet below to my jewelry stash at a bling exchange recently and am having fun wearing it, too.

Now that I’ve discovered how delightful wearing bracelets can be, I’ll be keeping my eyes open for others to add to my jewelry stash.

  • Brenda W says:

Necklaces are my favorite jewelry to wear. I like cameos with a place for a picture. I don’t wear ear rings. I can’t remember when I ever bought any jewelry. My birthstone is a diamond and I think I have never had a real one. Jewelry is not my thing. I spend my money on books, old glass items and the things I have to spend it on. Your bracelets are pretty!

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Brenda, the historical writer in me has a soft spot for cameos. I like the idea of a cameo locket.

I hope someday you get a diamond. I wasn’t all that eager to have one–until we added tiny ones on either side of my sapphire. That was my 25th anniversary gift a few years back. I love the added sparkle.

      • Patrice Doten says:

Keli, my wedding ring is a sapphire with diamonds on either side. It’s a gorgeous combo. Not surprised it won you over to diamonds. 😊

  • Jordann says:

I love jewelry! Although, I don’t wear it much. I would have to say that my favorite kinds have to be anything vintage, which is why I’m in love with my wedding ring set! It was my husband’s great, great, grandmother’s! It’s amazing to have such a special piece that has so much history!

  • I’m not much of a jewelry wearer. I wear my wedding ring and another ring all of the time. I put a necklace on now and then but they bother me so not often. I used to have pierced ears but they kept getting infected so I let them close up. I guess my husband lucked out with never having to buy me jewelry!

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Julie, a wedding ring is such a special piece of jewelry. Does yours have a story that goes with it?

      • Yes, my husband to be wanted me to shop for the ring with him. He had to get a loan in order to establish credit. He told me how much I could spend. I picked a small ring so we were also able to buy tires for his car and a typewriter! I love my ring and have never regretted the choice I made.

        • Keli Gwyn says:

Julie, I love that you honored your husband-to-be and chose a modestly priced ring. Your loving action showed him what kind of wife you would be.

  • Unfortunately I am unable to wear jewelery, I’ve tried but I end up itching, I’m allergic to some metals. I’ve tried many different kinds with the same result.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Wendy, I have a sister who can’t wear much jewelry. Like you, she’s allergic to the metals. Have you ever checked out some of the fun plastic jewelry?

  • Connie Lee says:

My favorite jewelry is light weight necklaces with a pretty stone, like my birthstone of garnet.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Connie, garnet is my daughter’s birthstone, too. I inherited a garnet ring from my grandmother. It was fun passing it on to our gal when she turned 16.

  • Karen S says:

My favorite jewelry to wear is earrings. I rarely wear bracelets and necklaces.

  • Katrina L says:

My favourite type of jewelry to wear are necklaces. I have a few that have a special meaning attached and really enjoy opportunities to wear them.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Katrina, a piece of jewelry means even more when it has a special meaning attached to it. Do you have a piece with a unique story behind it?

  • Thank you for putting the spotlight on Inherited: Unexpected Family, Keli! I used to love wearing necklaces, but more and more, it’s becoming about the earrings. 😊 Recently, I bought a collection of bronze-colored earrings that I’m excited about. It’s been a while since I bought new jewelry.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Gabrielle, I’m honored to be shining the spotlight on your latest LIH.

Those bronze-colored earrings sound like fun. They would go with lots of things, I would think.

  • Abigail Allen says:

My favorite jewelry are earrings. I’m always buying a new pair!

  • Jennifer Hibdon says:

Love your bracelets!!! I love jewelry and accessories!!!! It is a good thing I sell $5 Paparazzi jewelry, I can afford my bling!!!!! Thanx for the giveaway!

  • jane naccarato says:

Bracelets and necklaces are my favorites but I do have some earrings too.

  • Trixi says:

I’ve already read this one but I am happy to share the giveaway via social media!

The only jewelry I wear anymore is earrings and the occasional necklace. Oh, and I always have my watch on. As a teen, I used to wear all kinds of crazy stuff, lol! Do you remember colorful bangle bracelets & big gaudy earrings?? I was an 80’s teen so practically everything was big and bold…haha! I would match my jewelry with my outfit 🙂

What a fun post! I’m loving your pretty purple bracelets Keli, I’m sure you could wear those almost every day since that is your favorite color 🙂

    • Trixi says:

I need to add that I wear my wedding rings! I guess they just feel such a part of me after so many years, that I never really think about them. 🙂

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Trixi, I smile when I think of you sporting those big, bold bangles and earrings of the 80s. I take it your tastes have changed. 🙂

Yes, I have plenty of outfits those purple bracelets will go with. I have added a few items in the blue family lately, though. A good excuse to buy another bracelet. 🙂

  • Lynne M Feuerstein says:

Don’t wear jewelery often, but necklaces and brooches are my favorites when I do. A special favorite is a heart necklace that my mom had that she left to me. Brings back precious memories. 🙂 Thanks as always Keli for these fun posts!

  • Mary Preston says:

I mostly wear earrings, but I do have some lovely bracelets. I always feel like necklaces are choking me, so I don’t wear them. Purple is my favorite too.

  • Donna Irvin says:

I love wearing jewellery my sister made. Also love the new charm necklaces you customize.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Donna, how neat to have a sister who makes jewelry. Does she make special pieces just for you?

I like the Origami Owl lockets with the charms inside. I have two. One is filled with purple Swarovski crystals. The other I put on my keyring. It’s filled with charms that show my many interests.

  • Marilyn R says:

I don’t wear any jewelry. Simple lifestyle.
Inherited: Unexpected Family by Gabrielle Meyer sounds delightful.

  • Becky Smith says:

I don’t often wear jewelry because of allergies, so my favorite is my wedding ring! But your bracelets look lovely!!! I love the cover of this book.

  • Maryann says:

My favorite jewelry pieces to wear are pins. I rarely wear necklaces because I have had two thyroid cancer surgeries and anything on or near my neck is uncomfortable.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Maryann, I’m sorry you had to undergo those surgeries. I can understand why you wouldn’t want anything around your neck. Pins can add a nice touch to an outfit.

  • My favorite jewelry pieces to wear would probably have to be necklaces! Although I don’t wear anything very extravagant. I prefer tiny, simple jewelry.
My favorite piece I have recently acquired is a long necklace with a circle that looks like a best, a tiny little metal bird, and soft pink pearls for the birds eggs! I simply LOVE it!

  • Winnie Thomas says:

I love necklaces. I rarely wear any other kinds of jewelry.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Winnie, there are so many necklace styles to choose from. Which are your favorites? I’ve recently taken a liking to the new long metal chains with geometric shapes interspersed.

  • Patty says:

I don’t wear a ton of jewelry, but if I do it is bound to be a necklace. I don’t spend a lot of money on them but have fun looking.
But you won’t find me wearing earrings. I never got my ears pierced, and never really had the desire to. I did find a set of clip on earrings to wear for my wedding.

  • Tessa Gosiak says:

I am a simple jewelry person. I wear my wedding ring and either diamond or pearl earrings.

  • Michelle says:

I love earrings! They are my favorite! Great post, I cant wait to read this book.

  • Nicole House says:

I love wearing my wedding rings. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary and I acquired a diamond wrap to add to it. I also just bought a couple of silver rings for my right hand… Something to fidget with! And my sister sells those lockets that you can fill with charms, so I have way too many of them that I switch around to match either my outfit or the occasion (have to support my sister, you know!). I still have an Italian charm bracelet that turned into a cuff because of all my charms.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Nicole, I had to look up what a diamond wrap is. Very nice! That must really dress up your wedding ring.

I love the Origami Owl lockets. I have two but could enjoy more. I’ve had to limit myself. 🙂

  • Tiffany Hall says:

I actually do not wear any jewelry (religious beliefs), but I love watches and have several that I like to choose from to wear. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of this book!

  • Joyce says:

I wear earrings all the time; necklaces sometimes. I rarely wear bracelets because I have small wrists and they are always halfway to my elbow! My daughter makes word pendants from old dictionaries and old books. I love jewelry with a message.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Joyce, bracelets are often a problem for me too since I have small wrists like you do. One of the things I like about my new bracelets is that they fit me.

Your daughter’s jewelry made from old dictionaries and books sounds interesting. Does she sell the pieces she makes?

  • Patrice Doten says:

Silver rings are my favorite jewelry. I love earrings, but my hair is always long, so I only bother with them when I wear it up. I used to love bracelets, but they interfere with typing and clank around against tables, desks, etc. so I eventually stopped wearing them. I love that new purple one you got, though! Purple is also my favorite color.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Patrice, like you, I prefer silver jewelry. It goes best with my skin tone.

Bracelets cause me problems when I type, too. Since I’m retiring from writing and am not spending as much time at the computer as I used to, I decided to give bracelets another try. I’m glad I did. The new ones I received are fun to wear.

  • Lillian Richmond says:

I love any kind of Jewerly. I wear mostly sterling silver, made by James Avery, a Christian Jewerly designer. My most resent piece is a necklace with a pearl and the word blessed on it. Love it!

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Lillian, I like sterling silver jewelry, too, although I have very little. Your recent addition with the pearl and the word blessed sounds lovely.

  • Carol Alscheff says:

I especially like to wear necklaces with larimar stones from our trips to Punta Cana.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Carol, I wasn’t familiar with larimar stones, so I looked them up. Wow! They’re quite pretty. I can see why you enjoy wearing your necklaces made from them.

  • Gloria M. Kjorsvik says:

My favorite jewelry to wear is earrings and my watch. I love watches.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Gloria, watches were rather plain and utilitarian when I was young, but these days watches really make a fashion statement. I can see why you enjoy wearing them.

  • Lynda E. says:

Necklaces are my favorite, but I really love jewelry of all kinds. Thanks for the giveaway–I am looking forward to reading this one!

  • Jan Hall says:

I recently bought a purple paracord bracelet and a purple bracelet made from little purple rubber bands. I rarely wear metal jewelry. I have become allergic to it. I can wear it as long as the metal is not next to my skin. I save lots of money because of this allergic reaction.

  • Sabrina Templin says:

I love to wear fish hook earrings and necklaces
    I rarley wear bracelets
