His Prairie Sweetheart

A Home for Her Heart

After being jilted at the altar, Southern belle Savannah Cox seeks a fresh start out West and accepts a teaching position in Minnesota. But between her students’ lack of English, the rough surroundings and sheriff Elias Parker’s doubts and distrust, Savannah’s unprepared for both the job and the climate. However, she’s determined to prove she can handle anything her new town throws her way.

Elias gives it a week—or less—before the pretty schoolteacher packs her dainty dresses and hightails it back home. But no matter how many mishaps he has to rescue her from, Savannah doesn’t give up. Yet the real test is to come—a brutal blizzard that could finally drive her away, taking his heart with her…

Fun Question for Erica…

Not only do you write engaging stories that make me laugh out loud, but you find time to engage in a number of crafty activities as well. What crafts are your favorites, and how long have you been enjoying each one?

Erica says:  “Oh, I love to craft! I have been cross-stitching since I was a teen, and along the way I have picked up crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Quilting is my most recent endeavor, and I have such a love affair with beautiful fabrics! I’ve also developed a secret love of scrapbooking, creating a new scrapbook page for each of my novels, and for major milestones in my writing career. I am currently eyeballing my son’s room, imagining what it will look like when it is my craft/sewing/writing room. 🙂 ”

Your Turn…

What crafts do you enjoy or have you enjoyed in the past?

  • Anne Payne says:

I enjoy paper crafting. I’ve made several mini albums for babies and trips, and a quite a few cards to send to friends.

His Prairie Sweetheart sounds like a good book, although I’m glad I can’t relate to being jilted at the altar!

  • Melody says:

I am a scrapbook girl! I have about 12 ginormous finished albums! Then I have about 13 containers of photos left to do! Haha I will be scrapbooking for the rest of my life! But I love it, so I am good with that! 🙂

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Kudos, Melody, on completing all those scrapbooks. You’ve preserved many wonderful memories that way. I wish you well as you work your way through those containers of photos.

You won last week’s giveaway! I sent you an email. If you’ll respond to it, I’ll get the book on its way to you.

  • I currently enjoy reading. In the past I have enjoyed crocheting, quilting, embroidery, plastic canvas and counted cross stitch. I even sold many of the projects I made, taking orders for many more.

  • Thank you so much, Keli, for featuring His Prairie Sweetheart on your blog! I love to read about all the crafting and hobbies in the comments!

    • Keli Gwyn says:

I’m delighted to feature you and your debut Love Inspired Historical, Erica. I’m thrilled that you’re writing for the line.

When it comes to hobbies and crafts, you’re an inspiration. You write and create quilts, scrapbooks and more. I’m impressed.

  • Abby Breuklander says:

I’m not very artsy craftsy at all…I don’t have a creative bone in my body!

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Abby, we’re not all artsty craftsy, but I’m sure you have other talents. Do you like to cook, perhaps, or take photos or garden?

  • Connie Saunders says:

I enjoy sewing and making home decor.

  • Christina says:

I am currently attempting to learn how to paint furniture. It’s so amazing how paint can transform something.

  • Merry S. says:

I am another gal who is not crafty at all. My cousin tried to get me interested in ceramics but I broke the piece I was working on. I honestly did not enjoy it. I have sewed in the past and did a latch hook project. The only hobby I have right now is doing the shut in card ministry for our church but I dont really consider that a hobby. . I enjoy writing notes.

  • Kris Negley says:

I have two scrapbooks started…..someday I will finish them. I can’t wait to read Erica’s book!

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Kris, I understand about having scrapbooks in the works. I have several in various stages of completion. One day I’ll finish them. 🙂

  • I am a crocheter. I learned when I was 16 and have been making things for friends and family ever since. I also enjoy my latest faze of coloring! I learned to sew when I was about 14 and made my own clothes for a long while, but I don’t enjoy that as much as crochet. I’ve scrapbooked and painted ceramics, cross-stitched and needle-pointed. I guess you could say I love crafty things. Most are just a faze, with crochet the one I always go back to. I’m starting my Christmas projects now 🙂

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Julie, what a talented lady you are! My grandmother taught me to crochet. I remember making granny squares. That’s about as far as I got. I’m sure you make many wonderful things. What are some of your favorite crochet creations?

  • Megan besing says:

I enjoy crafts, but rarely make time for them anymore.

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Megan, I’m like you. I used to love making cards and scrapbooks, but my supplies have remained untouched for years. I’m sorting through them now with the intention of using them again.

  • Trixi says:

I’m not a craftie person! I did a little bit of cross-stitch years ago with my mom but got out of the habit. I do so admire other people’s crafts though, especially those quilts 🙂 Such beautiful creations!

I’m not entering as I have this book already. I just wanted to chime in and share this on FB 🙂

    • Keli Gwyn says:

Trixi, I’ve seen gorgeous quilts at the fair each year. I dream of having one made–in purples, of course–but I fear our cats would destroy it. Maybe one day…

  • Lynne M Feuerstein says:

Thank you for this post Keli and the giveaway! As for crafts I love to needlepoint! Never got the hang of things like knitting, but respect people like my niece that can. Please enter my name in the giveaway, would love to win Erica’s new book, The story sounds wonderful!
