Bride by Mail

Mail-order bride Judith Jones has barely arrived in Pepin, Wisconsin, before she’s whisked away to prepare for her wedding to Asa Brant. Though something about Asa seems so familiar, how do two strangers become husband and wife? Especially when Judith senses Asa’s hidden sorrow. His kindness in helping two young orphans could win her heart…if only he’d open up to her.

Determined to start over after four years of brutal war, Asa moved away and sent for a mail-order bride. He had no idea the woman answering his ad would be the sister of his former soldier in arms. The less he reveals, the fewer painful memories there are to confront. But Judith’s compassion—and two loving children—might just show them the path to true happiness…

Home, Sweet Home

Gwynly and I have spent the last two weeks on the road.
We’ve had a wonderful time visiting with friends and
seeing interesting sights, but I’m eager to get home.
I’ve missed our cats, our bed and my pillow.

His Family of Convenience

For widower and ex-doctor Trace Warren, a fresh start in Whisper Creek comes with a catch: to save his home and apothecary shop, Trace must remarry. While making Katherine Fleming his wife is simple enough, he refuses to fall in love again. But keeping his distance from the kind, beautiful woman and the infant she brings with her is dangerously difficult…

Katherine promised to protect the baby left in her care, and a marriage of convenience to Trace is the only way to do that. But all too soon, Trace possesses Katherine’s heart, even as he still carefully guards his own. With hopes of turning their arrangement into a true love match, can Katherine convince Trace to forgive himself for his past mistakes and embrace his new family?

Road Trip

I’m writing this while sitting on a patio in Colorado Springs with a view of Pikes Peak in the distance. Talk about relaxing. Wow!

This trip came about when Carl and I learned about a reunion being held here by the ministry he served with back in the early 80s. I read the email, knew immediately that this event was something I wanted my husband to experience and suggested we make a road trip out of it, which would enable us to visit with several friends en route.

We left California, made the l-o-n-g drive across Nevada, said a quick hello to the Great Salt Lake as we crossed the northwest corner of Utah, enjoyed the varied scenery along the southern edge of Wyoming and turned south into Colorado. After three and a half days in our trusty rental car, we were mighty glad to arrive at our destination.

Colorado Springs is a great place from which to view the Rockies. As a California native who lives at the base of the majestic Sierras, I’m partial to that range, but I have to admit that the Rockies are mighty impressive. This mountain gal is soaking in the beauty.

Question for You

Which mountain range is your favorite, and why?
