An Unexpected Partnershipย

After arriving in Minnesota Territory with her sisters to claim their late father’s hotel, Elizabeth Bell is shocked to learn her inheritance comes with a handsome co-owner. After too long working for a domineering boss, Elizabeth yearns to be in controlโ€”of the hotel and her life. But Jude Allen won’t sell his share, and Elizabeth refuses to leave.

Rescuing soiled doves and giving them hotel jobs is Jude’s way of redeeming his past. He’s counting on rough frontier life driving his new business partner away before she learns the scandalous truth and demands he stop his mission. But he may have underestimated Elizabethโ€ฆand the power of love to turn a complication into a bright new beginning.

Bling!

When it comes to jewelry, my collection is fairly small. It consists primarily of earrings, although I do have a few necklaces.

My writing partner, Anne, knows how much I love purple and sent me this lovely set of bracelets for my birthday a few weeks back.

Before receiving Anne’s gift, I didn’t wear bracelets very often, but I’ve been won over. They give an outfit some welcome pizazz.

I added the bracelet below to my jewelry stash at a bling exchange recently and am having fun wearing it, too.

Now that I’ve discovered how delightful wearing bracelets can be, I’ll be keeping my eyes open for others to add to my jewelry stash.

LIH Spotlight: An Amish Courtship

This week Iโ€™m shining the spotlight on
An Amish Courthship, an August release from
Love Inspired Historical author Jan Drexler.

Learn more about the story below, and then scroll
down to enter the giveaway for a print copy.

Amish Redemptionย

Samuel Lapp all but accepts his estrangement from the Amish communityโ€”until Mary Hochstetter moves in next door to care for her elderly aunt. The young woman with the pretty brown eyes sees Samuel differently than his neighbors do. If he can earn her respect while helping with her aunt’s chores, perhaps the rest of the community will follow. But Samuel can’t let Mary get too close, lest he disappoint her, as well.

Mary’s relocation to Shipshewana, Indiana, means confronting her deepest fears. By helping Samuel rebuild his life and his farm, she finally feels ready to embrace her future. But as their delicate friendship grows deeper, they both must overcome their painful pasts before they can build a home together.

Family Photographer

I kept my camera busy on our recent road trip, snapping pictures of the wonderful people we got to see and the interesting places we visited.

We were about an hour out of Colorado Springs on our way back home when I reached for my little red Canon and realized I’d left it behind. Our friends called a short time later to tell me that it was on their kitchen counter.

Thankfully, Carl had taken his camera on the trip, too. Since I’m the one who takes the majority of the pictures in our family, he loaned me his Panasonic.

Since my camera was several years old and I’d intended to replace it soon, I donated it to the wife of the missionary couple.

As soon as we got home, I set about searching Amazon for a new camera. Carl went on the site, too, and found a new Canon for me before I did, and he knew I’d love it. Why? It’s purple. Color me happy!

Questions for You

Who takes most of the pictures in your family?

When you’re on vacation, do you prefer to take pics of people,
or are you more likely to snap landscape shots?

Do you use your phone to take your pictures,
or are you old-fashioned, like me, and use a camera?

Birthday Celebration Giveaway!

Surprise!

Since there are five Mondays in July and since this particular Monday just so happens to be my birthday, I’m celebrating with a special giveaway.

Instead of shining the spotlight on another of the August Love Inspired Historicals this week, I’m offering a dozen books from the three Love Inspired lines. How’s that for a gift that will give hours of reading pleasure or make great gifts for friends?

Please scroll down to find out how to enter the giveaway.

The regular spotlights and giveaways will return a week from today.

Birthday Fun

Carl and I have reached that point in life when we have all we want and then some. Instead of giving each other gifts, we’ve chosen to give experiences.

When Carl and Adriana asked me how I wanted to celebreate my special day last year, I said all I really wanted to do was spend time with them as we browsed in IKEA. My family granted my wish.

My guy and I first discovered this wonderful store when we lived in Germany early in our marriage, so going there now evokes memories of a very special time in our life.

After we spent a couple of hours looking at the many interesting itemsโ€”and putting a few in our cartโ€”we enjoyed a delicious lunch in the cafeteria.

Adri asked me recently what I wanted to do to celebrate my birthday this year. Since Carl and I had just returned from a two-week road trip, I wasn’t eager to spend a lot of time in the car, so a day trip was out.

Our gal, who knows her mother well, reminded me that I’d had a blast at IKEA last year and asked if I wanted to go again. Yup! I agreed without delay. More memories to be made.

Questions for You

How do you like to spend your special day?

What’s one of your most memorable birthdays, and why?
